Our History
Cambria was founded in 1985 by a small group of senior consultants with advanced degrees in economics, business administration and behavioral science. The origin of our consulting practice began under the inspiration of Harvard professor David C. McClelland, the acknowledged founder of job competency assessment technology. Our initial engagements consisted of developing and implementing competency-based human resource management processes, including selection systems, training, organizational assessment and career development for Fortune 500, financial services, and federal government clients.
From the beginning, our firm took a business-centered perspective on human resource management, focusing on helping our clients achieve their business objectives through more effective talent development. In essence, Cambria positioned itself as a business partner in developing customized solutions to support strategy execution.
In the years that followed, the range of services and the technologies we employed to support them have expanded into four practice areas – Consulting, Coaching, Assessment, and Interactive – to meet the growing needs of our clients. Our work is, and always has been, designed to help employees achieve higher levels of performance, increase their commitment, and realize their aspirations in the context of organizational requirements.
