Bernie Cullen
Partner Emeritus
Bernie has over 30 years of experience designing and implementing solutions to strategic human resources issues.
He has consulted on more than 150 major projects covering the design and implementation of the full spectrum of HR systems. He helped lead the development of Cambria’s competency-based HR architecture to design processes for clients including recruiting, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning, and promotion.
While co-leading Cambria’s Assessment practice, Bernie led the development of new internet-based survey methods, measurement techniques, and customized 360-degree survey applications. Bernie developed proprietary techniques to increase the validity and the usefulness of survey data. He helped apply these survey methods and techniques to a wide variety of business issues, including deciding which internal business ventures will succeed, assessing the match between an organization’s strategy and its technical and non-technical skills, evaluating the value to society of encouraging people to pursue MBAs, and measuring the impact of the physical work environment on employee productivity and physical well-being.
Prior to Cambria, Bernie was a Project Director at McBer and Company (now part of the Hay Group). Before joining McBer, Bernie held a NATO Fellowship at Harvard University, where he was an instructor in Labor Economics and Organizational Behavior under Chris Argyris.
Bernie received a BA in Economics from Queens’ College, Cambridge University, and an M.Sc. from Brunel University.
