Cambria360 Feedback

Cambria was asked to link a 360 feedback process with the existing performance management review process for a technology group at a global financial institution. This presented a number of critical challenges including: (a) keeping the whole process manageable in terms of the reviewers’ time; (b) ensuring that everybody would in fact have sufficient feedback and (c) the ratings of individuals would reflect meaningful differences among both the individuals and the behaviors that were being assessed.

This was an ideal situation for implementing Cambria’s 360 Comparative Rating Process™. The Comparative Rating Process™ ensures that those rating more than one individual receive a form that allows them to rate all the individuals at the same time. While this approach requires some behind the scenes structuring of a database of reviewers and reviewees, the results were dramatic: 85% of the 500 individuals had sufficient ratings to receive 360 feedback and the average rating across the population was seen as far more realistic – approximately 3.7 rather than the typical 4.2 on a 5–point scale. In addition, the high response rate indicated that reviewers found the process relatively easy to complete.
