Cambria is experiencing an increase in demand for executive assessment and development for CEO successors and other C-suite positions. We are currently involved in executive assessment projects for leading high technology, consumer products, office supplies, and energy companies, with other opportunities pending. The increased demand appears to be the result of retiring “baby boomer” leaders and the desire to ensure a strong pipeline of talent to replace them. Assessments that include a combination of in-depth interviews with candidates, 360-degree interviews with people who have worked with them, and appropriately selected psychometric tests, produce rich narrative reports for CEOs and Boards, and for the candidates themselves. In addition, our experience indicates that combining assessment with development-oriented executive coaching is what our clients find most compelling.

Is this something you are also seeing in your organization? Tell us about your experiences.

Three years ago, Cambria embarked on a strategic coaching initiative with a Fortune 200 global manufacturer that began with one person – the company’s Chairman and CEO – and progressed to include over 100 top executives to support a global vision and the leadership capabilities needed to achieve it. This article, co-authored by Cambria’s Derek Steinbrenner and two of the client’s principal program managers, chronicles how the company, through executive coaching, not only created sustainable behavior change but began to change the culture of the company as well.

Since the launch of the Leadership Agility 360™ assessment last year, over 20 corporate clients, half in the Fortune 500, have executives using the instrument for their development initiatives. A broad network of 50 coaches based in cities around the US and in Bangkok, Hamburg, London, Montreal, Ottawa, Stockholm, and Sydney are or have been certified in the Leadership Agility 360. Several Cambria clients are also using the instrument as part of a comprehensive executive assessment of their senior leadership team. In addition, translations are available in French, Swedish, and Thai, and with the publication of Leadership Agility in Portuguese, a translation for Latin America will not be far behind.

To learn more about how your organization can benefit from the Leadership Agility 360 in its talent development initiatives, contact George Klemp, leader of Cambria’s Assessment practice.

Harvard Business School Association of Boston
Harvard Business School, Hawes 101, Cambridge, MA
November 9, 2009

Presenters: Bill Joiner, ChangeWise, and George Klemp, Cambria

Business leaders react very differently to the complexities, stresses, and uncertainties of the current business environment. Their reactions reflect how “agile” they are, which in turn will determine the success of their organizations going forward. Bill Joiner and George Klemp will provide concrete examples of three distinct responses to the current environment and outline ways that leaders can increase their agility and their likelihood of success in these challenging times. For more information about this session and how to attend, go here.
