Smart Downsizing: Reducing Costs while Increasing Competitiveness

The realities of the global economic crisis today have led to dramatic reductions in the workforce at many companies. Whether one calls it “downsizing or “rightsizing” (or, less euphemistically, “layoffs”), the dilemma in doing any of these things is how to salvage the investment in people for the long term despite short-term pressure to reduce costs, and not cut into muscle while trimming the fat. This paper presents a systematic, data-based process for making the right talent decisions when time is of the essence and retaining talent needed for the future is critical.

Dealing with Change in Uncertain Times: Tips for Leaders and Others

At the recent Human Resource Council Conference in Boston, Ellen Kumata, Cambria’s Managing Director, shared insights learned from helping embattled executives as they fight for their companies’ viability. Diana Sullivan Joins Cambria

We are pleased to announce that Diana W. Sullivan has joined the firm as a Principal Consultant. Diana brings over 20 years of general management and leadership development experience ranging from business and leadership strategy alignment, to working with organizations, teams, and individuals on leader development and business impact. Before joining Cambria, Diana was co-founder and head of Lee Hecht Harrison’s Leadership Consulting practice. Prior to LHH, Diana was a senior manager in national sales with AT&T Computer Systems Division. Diana will be based in our San Francisco office.

Cambria and BusinessWeek Celebrate 10 Years of a Great Partnership

For the 10th year, BusinessWeek has turned to Cambria to design and implement its Best B-Schools survey for 2008. Cambria surveyed more than 16,000 graduates from over 100 schools around the world. The results appeared in BusinessWeek’s November 24, 2008 issue.

Our work with BusinessWeek continues to expand. We are currently completing work on the Best Undergraduate B-School Programs report to be published this spring; this summer we will partner with BusinessWeek on their Best Places to Start a Career study; and later this summer, Cambria will work on the Best Executive MBA Programs survey, to be published in the fall.

Designed for front-line managers and leaders, the LSAS™ is Cambria’s interactive simulation of a manager’s workday, featuring the most significant real-life challenges.
