BOSTON, Mass. (January 19, 2005) – Cambria Consulting, a leader in state-of-the-art human resource applications, has created a new, blended approach to e-learning and knowledge management that avoids the shortcomings inherent in each. We call this approach Interactive Knowledge Development (IKD).

Cambria Consulting’s IKD approach is based on the concept that learning should be a continuous give-and-take process, not a series of disconnected learning episodes. The IKD approach:

• Uses compelling Flash audio and video, in conjunction with well-conceived and clearly written content. Learners participate in a more engaging, and self-paced learning environment, than most typical e-learning approaches provide.
• Provides best practice tools to help the learner develop the skills and behaviors required to implement new ideas and initiatives at the highest level of performance.
• Includes an interactive knowledge database that provides feedback to and from experts, and other learners. This allows users to share their experiences of applying learning to real life situations. As a result, an anecdotal database of managed knowledge is created without placing unwarranted knowledge-sharing burdens on senior people.

Cambria’s custom-developed IKD systems are versatile and powerful. One program, on advanced conflict resolution techniques, compresses a two-day course into six hours of seat time, with better participant reviews than the live course! Another program, developed for a major computer networking and hardware company, teaches a complex step-by-step selling skills process. Both programs provide live links to other learning resources, and examples of how skills are applied in real customer environments. Importantly, they also include a knowledge-sharing component that keeps them alive on the desktop as continual learning resources.
