George is one of Cambria’s founding partners. He leads Cambria’s executive assessment practice and co-leads the consulting practice. George has more than 35 years’ experience in consulting and assessment and is an acknowledged thought leader in the field. He helps his clients define and develop the leadership qualities that are essential to their business strategies, as well as implement competency-based talent development programs that boost organizational performance. His clients have included leading organizations, including Accenture, Assurant, Baxter, Cigna, CVS Health, Deloitte, Exxon Mobil, Fidelity Investments, Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Timex, and United Technologies Corporation.
Before Cambria, George was senior vice president and director of research at McBer and Company (now part of the Hay Group). While at McBer, he collaborated with Harvard professor David McClelland to develop competency modeling methodology. Also at McBer, George directed some of the first empirical studies of global leadership for the US Navy, Alcoa, and Mobil.
Education, Professional Activities
George holds an AB magna cum laude from Harvard College, an MA in psychology from the University of Wisconsin (Madison), and a PhD in psychology and statistics from Yale. He is a member of the American Psychological Association-Division 5 (Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics) and Division 14 (Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology – SIOP). He has written many of Cambria’s most influential articles and has presented on topics including education, leadership, and talent management for the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD), the OD Network, SIOP, and the Harvard Business School, as well as conferences in the UK, Italy, and Japan.
